How I Can Help

A refreshing, strengths focused and straight forward approach to counselling, therapy and relationship support.

Harmful sexual behaviours and abuse

I am focused on preventing abuse before it happens, including addressing the danger of re-offending. I adopt a strengths focused approach, building on my clients own resources and their ability to determine their own outcomes. I have both experience of, and specific training in working with potential sex offenders, sex offenders, non-offending paedophiles, or those who are fearful of offending, along with the partners and family of any of the above.

Psychosexual Therapy

Talking about sex can feel uncomfortable and embarrassing making it difficult to discuss sexual problems with friends and family. However, it is not unusual for people to experience sexual difficulties at some point during their lives. Many issues can be due to a physical or a psychological cause, even when the issue is purely physical it can then become a psychological problem. Exploration of these issues can help an individual move towards a happier and more fulfilled life.

Gender, sexual & relationship diversity

I offer GSRD specific therapy which includes exploration of diverse sexuality and relationships, including non-binary sexualities, open relationships, polyamory, polysexual and the exploration of kink sexuality in a non pathologising approach. Therapy may help enable you to make choices for what is best for you, including the exploration of strategies and considerations for keeping safe.

Sexual compulsions

Some people prefer to use the term ‘sex addiction’. Time in therapy will be used to explore the impact of porn use, especially if it prevents every day functioning in life such as avoiding social occasions, using it to cope with difficult emotions or if it starts to impact relationships with others.

Relationships

The relationships we develop throughout our life can be at the centre of our identity and well being. We can explore family breakdown, domestic abuse, relationship breakdown and what a healthy relationship looks like.

General Therapy

Therapy can help people understand why they feel the way they they do. It can help with emotional wellbeing, self discovery, improved sexual relationship, reducing jealousy, increasing self and relationship confidence, managing stress, better communication and more stable relationships.

Single session therapy

I work in a strengths focused way to help a client deal with their most pressing concern in one session. During the session we work to analyse the issue and then create a plan to address it, the client can then leave with a solution to implement, if more help is needed, then it is available.

Anxiety, Stress & Depression

Anxiety and depression can affect us in lots of different ways. It might be past events or a big change that is going to happen in the future. Sometimes a little stress or worry can help us to overcome challenges but too much can leave us feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope. We can explore how you feel, think and behave and explore the physical effects on your body.

Assertiveness & Self Esteem

People can be motivated to change when the benefits of change outweigh the benefits of the status quo. We can work together to help you feel resourced to make changes in your life.
